Failed to start remote desktop service VNC? Reasons are here !
Oops!! Failed to start remote desktop service VNC? How Fix this Error ?
VNC is a graphical desktop-sharing system in order to control another computer remotely. But there are different reasons for VNC service start to fail. we found many cases and we found that the three of the main reasons are:
- VNC password not set
- Error in vnc configuration file
- VNC fails to clear the files
1. Failed to start VNC occur when password not set
If the VNC password is not set, you will encounter this error. So, we set the password for the user – something like the image below.
2. Error in vnc configuration file
In some cases, the vnc startup file (
/etc/systemd/system/vncserver@.service) has an error. For example, in one case, the user did not specify the user name correctly.
3. VNC failed to clear the files
It has also been observed that TigrVNC is unable to delete files created under / tmp and /tmp/.X11-unix/. So you can delete them manually like the following commands:
rm -f /tmp/.X11-unix/Y ; where Y is the file to remove.
Then restarted the server using the command:
systemctl start vncserver@:X.service
